The whole Baader Planetarium product range

The company Baader Planetarium is a middle sized enterprise having 50 years experience in producing and installing astronomical equipment.

More than 600 observatory domes of sizes from 2 m up to 8.5 m have been mounted, together with a large number of projection domes for planetarium installations up to 10 m in diameter. Observatory domes serve for a multitude of applications for scientific use around the world specialized to work under the hardest of environments, with installations in Antarctica (Dome C - 84°C) to high Arctic regions such as Svalbard (NyAalesund -45°C), Ellesmere Island (Eureca -60°C), in desert conditions with hermetic seals against dust and a number of high Alpine locations. Also the company specializes in high end robotic telescopes with apertures up to one meter as European sole distributor of Planewave Instruments USA, telescope mounts of varuious configurations, Echelle spectrographs featuring a resolution up to 20 000 lambda/delta lambda under Licence of MaxPlanck Institution(MPI).

    • Can also be used with other focusers like e. g. FeatherTouch. Adapters for other focusers are in development, but not included in the scope of delivery.
    • Contactless Homing Sensor enables precise homing and repeatable ap- proach of saved absolute positions – perfect for remote-observatories.
    • Can be controlled either with the powerful SteelGo II software or through the ASCOM driver. Needs Steeldrive II Controller (#2957260 , € 445,-)
    • Made in Germany: The housing is CNC-milled from Aluminium in our factory. The electronical boards are made by a German company according to our specifications.

    • The Baader standard basis is milled from solid (no cheaper casting), adjusts all Tubusradien and can be with two screws in the slots - but also with a single screw in the center - absolutely firmly attach.
    • The base plate is milled sinusoidal and forms on each tube radius 130-400 mm diameter two linear runs. This provides maximum stability.
    • Hole spacing: for attachment onto a telescope OTA, the Baader-Standard-Base has two long-holes of 14 mm length each and 5.3mm width, The middle spacing between both holes is 36 mm. Accordingly the center spacing distance of two 5mm screws may vary from 26 mm to 46 mm

    • The effect of the element neodymium as filter material is very impressive. When added to optical glass, it enhances contrast, enhances the red colour in the image (especially with Mars and Jupiter) and it darkens the spectral region which is particularly marked by street lamp light, which is the biggest contributor to the nightly "Skyglow".
