tolles Zubehör mit angemessenem PreisIch benutze diesen Auszug an zwei verschiedenen SCT verschiedener Hersteller. Sauber verarbeitet und edel aussehend..Das Teil ist nicht billig, aber durchaus preiswert. Es gibt sehr viele Justiermöglichkeiten. Ich wünsche mir dennoch zwei Änderungen: - Das einbegriffene Zubehör sollte modular austauschbar sein - so brauchen nicht alle das Werkzeug, weil schon vorhanden, und andere wünschen den Click-Anschluss anstelle der Okular-Fixierung mit den drei Schrauben. So muss man den Click nachkaufen und hat dann einiges in einer Tüte auf dem Dachboden, wie Werkzeug, kleinen SC-Geweinde Adapter und die Klemme mit den drei Schrauben. - Die Blidschrauben passen nicht zu dem vermutlich meist verkauften Fokussiermotor des bekannten roten Herstellers aus China. So muss man etwas basteln und das sehr wertvoll und edel aussehende Design des Auszugs leidet etwas durch die gebastelte Blechschiene. Ich würde den Auszug wieder kaufen.Tom Halsingland -
Steeltrack SCI bought the Baader 2” diamond steeltrack dual speed focused to augment focusing on my 10inch Meade LX200gps SCT. I couldn’t be happier. Easy to mount, easy to adjust, very tight and rigid assembly, no backlash, smooth operation, positive feel when making adjustments. I removed the 2inch adaptor plate and attached it with the 3.3inch thread as the Meade thread is 3.25inch it fits just about perfect tightens up great. My scope is fork mounted when pointed to the zenith i have 20mm clearance with the Meade 2inch Diagonal attached to the focuser. Highly recommended.SkldVenom

Baader Steeltrack Auszug (alte Ausführung)Ich schreibe hier von den älteren Baader Steeltrack Auszügen, die ja durch die Baader Diamond Steeltrack nochmals verbessert wurden. Vor ein paar Jahren habe ich mir eine gebrauchte AstroPhysics Montierung gekauft. Sozusagen als „Beifang“ war ein 80mm ED Refraktor dabei. Der Tubus war durch einen Umbau (viel) zu kurz geraten und der Okularauszug war sehr einfach ausgeführt und hatte große mechanische Toleranzen. Selbst mit einem 2“ Zenitspiegel kam man nicht in den Fokus. So lag der Refraktor längere Zeit im Regal, bis ich ihn mal auf meiner optischen Bank einem Test unterzog. Die Ergebnisse waren so gut, dass ich mich sofort an die Konstruktion für einen neuen Refraktor machte. Als Okularauszug kam nur der Bader 2“ Steeltrack in Frage, da ich 1. Mit dem 3“ Steeltrack schon sehr zufrieden war 2. Der Okularauszug optimal zu einem Alu-Tubus passte und 3. Konnte ich auch noch den Motorfokus von meinem 3“ Steeltrack verwenden. In der Hauptsache fotografiere ich Sonne, Mond und Planeten. Gerade bei der Aufnahme von Planeten mit hoher Vergrößerung ist es sehr ärgerlich, wenn der Planet beim Fokussieren "hüpft". Das kommt durch die unvermeidbaren, mechanischen Toleranzen. Wie schön, dass das ist bei den Baader Steeltrack Auszügen nicht der Fall ist. Leider... passte der FCC und das 4-fach Telezentrische System nicht in den (alten) Steeltrack. Mit einem Adapter müsste ich den Steeltrack zu weit nach außen fahren, was zu einer hohen Belastung der Kugellager geführt hätte. Also Neukonstruktion? Ich entschloss mich zu einer Änderung des Auszugrohres, zumal ich als gelernter Feinmechaniker die Fähigkeiten und die Werkstatt dazu hatte. Die neuen Diamond Steeltrack Auszüge haben ja nun Gott sei Dank die Möglichkeit, den 2" Anschuss vielseitig zu verwenden. Als gelernter Feinmechaniker begeistert mich immer die hochwertige Ausführung der Baader Steeltack Auszüge.Bernd Höfner -
Diamond stelltrackDer stelltrack ist absolut hochwertig und präzise gearbeitet und verbesert den Umgang mit meinem Teleskop durch seine absolut steife und präzise Gängigkeit deutlich. Die Montage fand ich an meinem 8"-Celestron-Newton anspruchsvoll und es viel mir nicht leicht, vier neue Löcher in den Tubus zu bohren. Wichtig: Bei mir waren es 6 mm Bohrungen für die VersaBase-Schrauben (nicht 5 mm wie im Erklärvideo angegeben!). Und diese müssen wirklich nach temporärer Fixierung der Paltte über die "alten" Löcher sehr präzise und wirklich zur Tubusmitte hin ausgerichtet sein. Ärgerleich fand ich den beigelegten Sechskantschlüssel für die Madenschrauben der VersaBase: Er war zu klein (hat die Madenschrauben nicht gegriffen!) und ist für die on-Tubus-Montage eigentlich zu kurz. Ich habe mir dann einen Orginal-Imbus 1,5 mm gekauft (ca. 2,40 €) der sehr gut paßt (der hätte bei einen Prudukt für 305 € dabei sein sollen)AstroML -

Montage Baader SteeltrackMit dem Kauf des Baader Steeltrack habe ich mir mehr Stabilität vor allem in der Fixierung meiner Canon EOS 6D Vollformatkamera am Okularauszug meines Newton erwartet und wurde auch nicht enttäuscht. Vor allem auch in Kombination mit dem 2" ClickLock erhält man eine stabile Lösung die wirklich fest hält. Die Montage des Steeltrack am Newton ist allerdings nichts für "schwache" Nerven. Die Bohrungen sind zwar rasch gesetzt, aber die Fixierung der Versabase war nicht ganz einfach. In meinem Fall ist der Durchmesser des Tubus gerade an der Grenze der Montagemöglichkeiten. Die beiliegenden Abstandstreifen bieten zwar eine gute Auflage, die Schrauben aber dann von innen durch die Bohrungen in die V2A-Druckstücke einzuschrauben bedurfte einiger "Fingerverrenkungen". Schlussendlich hat es aber geklappt. Am nächsten Tag gab es dann auch das first light für den Steeltrack und alles funktionierte ganz tadellos. Wie gesagt auch das ClickLock System ist einfach super, früher musste ich ein paar mal die Klemmschrauben weiter lösen um endlich den 2" Einschub mit der Kamera und allen Zusätzen einfädeln zu können. Jetzt einfach einsetzen und festklemmen - passt. Also daher für das ganze System eine 5-Stern Bewertung.Harald

Rock solid, reliable and very preciseI am using 3 controller and motor units now for more than a year on three scopes: Meade LX 200 with a SteelTrack focuser, TEC 140 ED with Feathertouch and an TS 80/460. Controller: It is crafted from a solid aluminum block and is very stable. The keypad is easy to find in the dark thanks to the dimmable keypad, but also in a tactile way. You can feel the buttons with your fingertips. One big advantage is that the controller does not lose position when it gets unplugged (power or USB). In combination with the brackets the controller perfectly fits on the scope. Wiring can be made easily. The usage is intuitively and even visitors who have never operated such a device come to terms with it in seconds. The power supply is standard 12V DC which makes it easy to integrate it into existing solutions. There are no special requirements. Motor unit: Also very solid and extremely precise. Only one minor potential improvement is the noise when moving, but this is complaining on highest level. Very positive is that you can use any CAT6 network patch cable to connect controller and motor unit. No special/unique cables are required and you can get the optimal length in any shop. The concept of belt drive is a big advantage over other geared solutions. The belt drive has no backlash. So you only have to handlethe potential backlash of the focuser. Software: The software is very stable now. Besides storing focuser’s positions it displays the temperatures and assists you very easily to set up temperature compensation. One big benefit: You can start multiple instances on the same computer to control more devices. Firmware: The Firmware can be updated with a few clicks via USB. So it is well prepared for future enhancements. Conclusion: Though it is definitely not a cheap solution, it is simply working and reliable. For my point of view worth every cent. Fitting a 2-inch BDS-RT Baader Diamond Steeltrack Focuser to a Teleskop-Service GSO 8-inch Ritchey-ChretienFitting a 2-inch BDS-RT Baader Diamond Steeltrack Focuser to a Teleskop-Service GSO 8-inch Ritchey-Chretien Background The TS 8-inch RC has M90x1mm connections at the focuser end of the scope. My setup has a TS 50mm extension adapter with for 6- & 8-inch RC connected to the scope (TS part no: GSRCV50), to accommodate the long back-focus. Attached to this is a TS M90 tilting adapter flange (TS part no: GSRCJ90). This is an aid to collimation and allows the long axis of the focuser to be aligned with the optical axis of the scope. I then have a standard TS monorail focuser for the RC, again with an M90x1 connection. Image 1 shows the 50mm extension and tilting flange, with the old focuser removed. Note the M90 male thread at the end of the flange, to which the focuser connects. Fitting the Baader Diamond Steeltrack RT It is assumed that the reader has access to the Steeltrack manual and has purchased the necessary RT-Adapter M90x1 Diamond Steeltrack (Baader part number 2957283). 1. The Steeltrack RT is supplied with an M68 adapter as standard. Remove this by loosening the M5 screws around its outer edge. An M88 dovetail is exposed. See Image 2. 2. Connect the new RT-adapter to the Steeltrack, tightening the M5 screws sufficiently to hold it in place, but still just rotates. Note that the thumbscrew from the M68 adapter can be transferred. See Image 3. 3. Connect the Steeltrack to the tilting flange, rotate the focuser to the desired orientation, then tighten the thumbscrew to lock it in place. If desired, the M5 screws around the edge of the M90 adapter can be tightened for a firmer grip. See Image 4. After fitting the Steeltrack, I can confirm that the focuser has the full 80mm inward travel. This above method should still be applicable, even if a tilting flange is not present, as M90x1mm connections are standard on this size of RC. However, with only the 50mm extension in place, it may be that the focuser will not move the final 5mm of inward travel, depending upon the size of any baffle at the junction of the extension and the scope. Note that an alternative method is not to transfer the thumbscrew from the M68 to M90 adapters, but to use the all the standard screws.Graham

Grossartiger AuszugHabe heute nacht den Okularauszug zum ersten mal benutzt und war beeindruckt wie leicht und präzise der Fokus eingestellt werden kann. Durch die Übersetzung ist der Kraftaufwand nahezu nichtig! Somit auch kaum Störung beim Scharfstellen! Das ist eine wesentliche Investition gewesen.Alexander

Die perfekte Ergänzung zum Mark V Großfeld-BinokularDa für ein Mark V Großfeld-Binokular an einem SC-Teleskop der 2“ Glaswegkorrektor 1,8x nötig ist, war ich auf der Suche nach einer Möglichkeit einen Focalreducer einzubinden um ein helleres Bild zu erhalten. Der Baader Diamond Steeltrack ermöglicht in Verbindung mit einem T-2 Zenitspiegel mit geringer optischer Länge auch einen 3,3“ Reducer zwischen Teleskop und Okularauszug zu verwenden ohne den fokussierbaren Bereich zu verlassen. Ich habe über den S58-ClickLock für den Baader Diamond Steeltrack den 2" Glaswegkorrektor 1,8x für Refraktoren und SC's angeschlossen, der dadurch vollständig im 2" BDS-SC Baader Diamond Steeltrack Okularauszug verschwindet. Hier ist auch noch genug Platz für einen 2“ Filter am Glaswegkorrektor. Mit dem Glaswegkorrektor ist ein T-2 Zenitspiegel verbunden, an dem das Mark V Großfeld-Binokular befestigt ist. Das Binokular wird sicher gehalten und lässt sich gut fokussieren.Peter

SteelDrive IIThe SteelDrive II is a solid piece of equipment. The design was very well thought out by the engineer. Installation to my NT Diamond SteelTrack focuser was a breeze. The hand controller is compact and is illuminated in red which will come in handy at night. Initially I was not able to get connected to the hand controller with my PC. My unit had a firmware issue that required a remote session with Baader and was fixed in less than 10 minutes. The SteelGo software has a nice user interface and is packed with many features that the user can customize. I am still getting familiar with it. I was able to get connected to APT and use the focuser with the ASCOM driver. The SteelDrive II was the last piece of the puzzle for me to implement fully automated imaging sessions. I look forward to imaging from the comfort of my climate controlled home during the winter and summer nights clear skies permitting.Jennifer

für die EwigkeitAufgerüstet wurde ein SC 9.25 mit Hinblick auf die Astrometrie/Photometrie. Mit dem OAZ umgeht man natürlich das bekannte Spiegelshifting und ermöglicht wirklich schweres Equimpent einzusetzen. Ich werde vermutlich nicht auf 6,5kg kommen, aber bei 3 kg hat man gute Reserven und vorallem einen sicheren Fokus im Zenit. Auch ein evtl. großer Hebel bei horizontnaher Beobachtung macht dem OAZ nichts aus. Was aus der Produktbeschreibung nicht hervorgeht, aber in der Bedienungsanleitung nachzulesen ist, sind die Gründe der Wartungsfreiheit und die Möglichkeiten der Justierung. Wenn man das gelesen hat wird einem klar, was für ein qualitativ hochwertiges und langlebiges Produkt man vor sich hat. Die Justiermöglichkeit bietet über die bereits perfekte werksseitige Justierung hinaus, dem (über)ambitionierten (Hobby)Astronomen auch noch die letzten "Hundertstel" rauszuholen. Für die visuelle Beobachtung überflüssig, für photographische Beobachtung im Highend eine Option.Ingo

Excellent with a couple of small suggestionsOverall, I'm very pleased. I'm using this with a BDS-NT on a maksutov newtonian. The focuser itself is excellently constructed, and although it took a bit of care in fitting I'm very satisfied with it once it's on. I just received the motor and controller kit, which I intend to also use for the inbuilt dew controller. With regards to the focusing motor functionality, it's fairly quiet, very fast, and seems accurate and fits very neatly and nicely. The main reason I bought this particular unit was because, unlike almost all the others, it permits manual use of the focuser without removing the motor - very nice for switching to visual use occasionally. The movement with the focus motor attached is not difficult - it's a little notchy, and not as smooth as without the motor, but I guess that's to be expected, and it is totally usable - it's a little hard to make large movements, I found you have to turn the fine focus knob first to get it moving then simultanously apply gentle torque on the coarse focus knob if you need to make a large manual movement, but again, it's usable without the hassle of removing the motor, and that's the main thing. In terms of the dew control, I spoke to Baader about the 1 amp limit of the port. After a detailed discussion, it seems they may consider uprating that port to 2 amps in a future production run of the controller, as the circuitry could handle that. For me, 1 amp is just about sufficient for the main scope I'll be using it with, it's a shame mine didn't come with the 2 amp capacity, as I feel that would be better sized for larger scopes you might use this on, but like I said, the 1 amp capacity of the controller as it is at the time of writing this review should be sufficient for most smaller to medium sized scopes. All in all, I'd recommend this especially if you're fitting it to the Baader steeltrack as it's a perfect easy fitment with good functionality. The price, well, it's certainly not cheap - nothing else with manual override is cheaper though so whatever - I think it would certainly be nice to see the price come down, but the market will decide that and although it was a big chunk of cash I considered it worth the expense.Paul BB

Baader 7.5nm Solar Continuum Filter (540nm)
Will it be possible in the future to have this filter for Sony's mirrorless camera also?
It would be a fantastic option also for who doesn't have a telescope.

Answer rated: 3So far, we do not have plans for additional filter sizes. These narrow-band-filters work best visual or with monochrome cameras, anyway, because on a colour camera, all the red and blue pixels would be useless.
But you can use Baader DSLR-2" Filter Holder M48/SP54 # 2408166 plus the Hyperion DT and stepper rings to install the 2" filter in front of most camera lenses which have a filter thread. This will cause some vignetting of the aperture, but it shouldn't be much of a problem asthe sun is still small enough with most camera lenses.

Baader Solar Continuum Filter (540nm)
Would this continuum filter be helpful on an apochromatic, triplet 80mm, refractor AT80EDT? Or would it not be helpful? If no, would another filter be suitable to help with solar detail when using a wedge?
Answer rated: 1Yes, absolutely. A highly recommended filter, even for a triplet.The contrast of the sun's surface increases significantly. Fine structures at the edges of sunsports, the granualation and flare areas appear more clearly. Baader T-Ring Nikon to T-2
Can this T-ring be connected to 2957202 on Baader Herschel Prism?
Does this T-ring cause vignette on full frame Nikon DSLR (image diameter 44mm)?
Answer rated: 0Yes, this works for the new version of the Herschel (Baader 2" Cool-Ceramic Safety Herschel Prism Mark II). Older models without the integrated rotating mechanism for the polarizing filter need the Baader Adapter 2" (male) / T-2 (male) # 1508035 instead.
Please note that the inner diameter of T-2-adapters is ca. 38mm, so there may be some vignetting with a full frame sensor. You will probably not notice it as the image of the sun ist still smaller. One meter of focal length results in a 1 cm large image of the sun, so you'd need about 4m of focal length to fill the frame.
If you want to be sure, you should use Diamond Steeltrack® S58 to M48 BDS-Adapter # 2957204, Reducing piece S52 / M48 # 2958552 and Baader Wide-T-Ring Nikon with D52i to T-2 and S52 # 2408333. Answer rated: -1Yes, this works for the new version of the Herschel (Baader 2" Cool-Ceramic Safety Herschel Prism Mark II). Older models without the integrated rotating mechanism for the polarizing filter need Baader Adapter 2" (male) / T-2 (male) # 1508035 instead.
Please note that the inner diameter of T-2-adapters is ca. 38mm, so there may be some vignetting with a full frame sensor. You will probably not notice it as the image of the sun ist still smaller. One meter of focal length results in a 1 cm large image of the sun, so you'd need about 4m of focal length to fill the frame.
If you want to be sure, you should use Diamond Steeltrack® S58 to M48 BDS-Adapter # 2957204 and Reducing piece S52 / M48 # 2958552 instead of the S58/T-2-adapter #2957202. This will avoid any vignetting, and you can use the T-ring with 2" / S52 Nosepiece # 2958551 on any 2" focuser, if you later want to use it e.g. for Deep Sky photography without the Herschel wedge.
