Observatory Solutions
Over five decades, we've delivered dependable domes and fully integrated Observatories with high-end equipment like Planewave Instruments, 10Micron mounts and Andor/QHY cameras for astronomical observatories. Our solutions are deployed globally.
Our high-quality domes have also found applications beyond astronomy, including Laser Ranging projects for almost 30 years. Designed for durability and reliability, our constructions meet the strictest professional standards and high availability also at day time.
Our robust observatories serve the Space Industry's growing need for SSA ground stations in remote locations. We offer special high-speed drive mechanics for fastest positioning and tracking of low-orbit satellites or to enable instant view for fast moving survey instruments.
Our highspeed domes can be outfitted with solar shields for satellite tracking and laser communication during daylight. Features like integrated UPS and emergency weather stations ensure the safety of your instruments under any circumstances.
Polar capability. Built in.
Baader Polar Domes are engineered for ground stations and observatories operating in Arctic, Antarctic and other extreme-cold environments. Extreme-cold capability is incorporated into the complete system from the outset – from insulation and drive systems to electronics, cabling and seals.
More than two decades of operational experience at polar sites form the foundation of today’s Polar Dome configurations.

Worlds only Turnkey-Clamshell-dome for space surveillance purposes that is fully operational within an hour after arrival
Shipping a dome is voluminous and commonly it takes several days/weeks for final assembly. This dome is made to fit into a truck, with all mechanics, electronics, autonomous weather sensors, PC-connection, uninterrupted power supply fully assembled. Just twelve anchor bolts need to be drilled into a prepared concrete slab of 200 cm diameter. Hook up your PC and the Baader 2.3m AllSky dome is ready to go 24/7 – for a lifetime.
We do recommend and invite customers to visit us for the final acceptance test (FAT) prior to shipping the dome, so that all dome functions have been checked, all software is discussed and ready to work, w/o skilled technical personal required on site.
