The night sky has always fascinated Yannick. Even as a child, he was captivated by the beautiful images from NASA's Hubble Space Telescope. In 2018, he decided to invest in good equipment to finally capture breathtaking deep-sky images himself. Despite the challenging conditions at his Bortle 6 location in Mannheim, Germany, he has perfected his astrophotography skills in mono narrowband imaging and subsequent image processing with PixInsight over the past few years.
In his short career as an astrophotographer, Yannick has already achieved several international successes, such as being shortlisted for the prestigious Greenwich Astronomy Photographer of the Year Award in the Stars and Nebulae category, being named VdS Astrophotographer of the Year 2020, and receiving multiple NASA APODs (NASA Astronomy Picture of the Day) and Astrobin IOTDs (Image of the Day), for example, with his image of the M31 - Andromeda Galaxy or the famous "Pillars of Creation" in the Heart of the Eagle Nebula (M16).
In 2023, he decided to turn his hobby into a profession and has since been responsible for the portfolio of Baader and Celestron products at Baader Planetarium. In addition to handling support inquiries, he is also involved in dealer training in the Celestron area and marketing tasks.
He has documented his journey into the world of astrophotography not only through his images but also through various image processing courses on his personal website at www.astrophotomannheim.de.
