0,72x Quad Telecompressor Correktor from Astro-Physics
0,72x Telecompressor Correktor for TEC refractors:
- This Reducer/Corrector reduces the focal length of the 140mm f/7 from 980 mm to 700 mm and gives you a focal ratio of f/5. For a full frame camera (24 x 36 mm), this results in a field of view of 3 x 2 degree at an image circle of 50 mm, diffraction limited and free of vignetting. Has Starlight Instruments 3.5" focuser, so requires the 0,72x telecompressor and 3.5" Rotating Focuser Accessory Adapter (#1405375 , € 192) .
- This Reducer/Corrector reduces the focal length of the 160mm f/7 from 1.120 mm to 800 mm and gives you a focal ratio of f/5. For a full frame camera (24 x 36 mm), this results in a field of view of 1.7 x 2.6 degree at an image circle of 50 mm, diffraction limited and free of vignetting Has Starlight Instruments 3.5" focuser, so requires the 0,72x telecompressor and 3.5" Rotating Focuser Accessory Adapter (#1405375 , € 192) .

0,72x Telecompressor Correktor for 130GTX:
- This Reducer/Corrector reduces the focal length of the 130 GTX from 820 mm to 585 mm and gives you a focal ratio of f/4.5. For a full frame camera (24 x 36 mm), this results in a field of view of 3.5 x 2.4 degree at an image circle of 50.2 mm, diffraction limited and free of vignetting.
Backfokus Distanzstück und Adapter
As with all optical systems which change the focal length, the distances between lenses and camera sensor have to be kept as exact as possible.
There is a special backspacer ring available for this telecompressor. Its optical length is exactly 16 mm. The necessary distance from the back of this backspacer to the image plane is 80.8 +/- 1.0 Millimeter. To attach your camera, you need one of the following five adapters. If you require more backfocus, you can leave out the backspacer - then, the required backfocus is 96.8 +/- 2.5 mm. Flattener and backspacer do end in a 3.3 inch male thread.
The following chart shows the backfocus spacing (as measured from the rear flange of the backfocus spacer) is 80.8 mm +/- 1.0 mm.
Determine the appropriate Backfocus Spacer for the telescope that you plan to use and purchase it separately.

To adapt the new reducer/corrector to a TEC refractor, you must replace the end piece of the focuser. Simply unscrew the original end piece and replace it with the new one.
The 0,72x telecompressor and 3.5" Rotating Focuser Accessory Adapter (#1405375 , € 192) must ordered on its own. It is NOT included with the reducer/corrector.

Eyepiece Projection - How good can it get?
Question: With eyepiece projection, the image at the edge is extremely blurred. What could be the reason for this? For eyepiece projection with our Morpheus and Hyperion (zoom) eyepieces, we recommend a distance between eyepiece and T-ring of 40 mm on full-frame cameras, in addition to the 55 mm that were the flange focal distance of all "SLR" and DSLR camera bodies for decades when a T-ring was placed in front. Only with a T-ring that maintains this distance can old lenses with a T-thread deliver sharp images. Therefore, it has been tried to take this distance into account in all designs, because this is the only way to ensure that the sharpness performance is optimal. Of course, all this is only valid to a limited extent today - because the DSLR standard is losing it importance and the term „T-ring“ is all too often reduced to the mechanical thread and not the correct distances. Barlow lenses, their magnification factors and working distances
Again and again the question arises whether a barlow provides the correct magnification at all. It is often overlooked that the magnification factor always depends on the correct working distance - you can read more about this in this PDF using the VIP Barlow as an example: Different Magnifications with the VIP-Barlow # 2406101 To settle this question once and for all, we took a few comparative shots on an ED80/600 telescope with a monochrome camera. Due to the seeing on a hot summer at an outside temperature of 30 °C, the shots of a neighbouring roof were somewhat unsteady, so that the sharpness of the individual frames is only of limited use for judging the quality of the Barlow lenses, but here we are only concerned with the scale of the image. On this occasion, the focus shift was also measured: A barlow moves the focus point and is often used to come into focus when there is not enough back focus. In terms of transmission and colour purity, these optics are far superior to all "APOs" with ED lenses or similar, which are available today. If you haven't seen the difference with your own eyes, you can't imagine it. It is last bit of sharpness that literally gets you going when you focus on an oil-spaced triplet lens with Flurite as a middle element is an incomparable experience.

The currently available bino-telescopes of several manufacturers usually have apertures between 80 and 120 mm. TEC only starts at 140 mm.
