TEC APO 200 FL f/8 Fluorite Apochromat
After nearly 10 years the legendary TEC 200 FL Fluorite Apochromat will be reissued!
The APO 200 FL is an observatory class instrument with excellent color correction thanks to glass combined with Fluorite as a middle element.
The advantages of Fluriot to ED glass: less adsorption or rather more transmission
APO 160 FL Apochromat vs. APO 140 EDThe TEC APO 200 FL has number of features that in a given combination are rarely found in one scope:
- Precision apochromatic objective with modern coating that makes lenses almost invisible
- Retractable Dew Shield
- Light weight tube assembly. Theobjective is housed in an aluminum cell, providing for excellent thermoregulation properties while remaining lightweight and strong.
- The optical assembly sits in a lightweight aluminum tube that utilizes anti-reflective coating and sharp-edged baffles throughout the interior and forget about collimation – after the scope leaves TEC, no adjustment is required.
- Each APO200FL F/8 comes equipped with a Starlight Instruments FTF#3545 Feather Touch Focuser that was designed in collaboration with TEC. This is Starlight Instruments’ largest rotating focuser with coarse and fine focusing 9:1 Planetary Reduction Assembly
- The 2” locking metal collet is insensitive to temperature fluctuations and holds loads with high precision and concentricity
- Able to accommodate a wide variety of eyepieces
- Recommended to be paired with a high capacity load mount and a stationary observation station

First images with the TEC200FL
The following statement and pictures were sent to us by our customer Bernhard Hubl. Hello astrophotographers, I am pleased to present to you today the First Light with the QHY 268M on the TEC APO 200 FL. The planetary nebula Abell 12 is perfect for testing the combination of optics, camera and filter in terms of star formation, halos, reflections and sharpness. It is not without reason that Abell 12 has the nickname "Hidden planetary nebula". This faint PN is hidden in the halo of the 4 mag bright star Mu Orionis. Only if all optical components work perfectly together and of course the seeing is favourable, this PN can be imaged well. My plan was to separate the PN cleanly from the bright star with Halpha and [OIII] images. Unfortunately, the weather threw a spanner in the works and so I could only get 3h LRGB. Nevertheless, I am very satisfied with the result. 25th anniversary of TEC - Apochromats of the top class
The "Telescope Engeneering Company" has long earned a reputation as a top-class telescope manufacturer. The family business in the US state of Colorado has been manufacturing telescopes of the highest quality in small series since the 1990s. Before TEC manufactured the first refractors in the year 2000 (regular production of APO140 started in 2002), TEC were offering Sitall mirror sets from LOMO (upto 1.4m) and MAKs from 150mm to 300mm. The distribution of these products is stopped. The three Petrunins are based on class instead of mass, therefore the delivery times are long! But the quality is also outstanding: TEC is one of the few manufacturers in the world that still masters durable oil-spaced triplet lenses. This results in particularly robust and stable optics that cool down very quickly and effectively. During the 15 years that Baader Planetarium has been importing TEC telescopes to Europe, only one oil-spaced lenses had to be renewed.
