wirklich brauchbare Zusammenstellung von SoftwareIch benutze MIDAS unter Linux (Fedora) gelegentlich und habe auch mit den Windows basierenden Programmen zur Spektralauswertung etwas Erfahrung gesammelt. Mit MIBAS bekommt eine wirklich brauchbare Zusammenstellung fertig in einer VM gliefert. Das läßt fast keine Wünsche übrig. Mit fast meine ich nur, dass man mal das Ganze wieder auf ein aktuelles Fedora heben könnte. Ich persönlich nutze dennoch MIBAS und weniger meine eigene zusammengestrickte VM ;-) Danke an das Baader-Team für die kostenlose Unterstützung.Ingo Küttner

Massive timesaverBeing able to download a precooked virtual machine with IRAF and MIDAS is a huge convenience, avoiding the vast amount of wasted time I spent unsuccessfully trying to install IRAF recently. It's a big download at 5GB, but definitely worth it for the convenience. And there are other useful things, like python and PyRAF on there as well.Tom

MIBAS SoftwareKnowing nothing about LINUX, I did not dare using LINUX based software like MIDAS, IRAF etc for spectroscopy. But being keen on playing around with spectra obtained with the BACHES spectroscope I overcame my hesitation and installed the Virtual Box and the MIBAS program suite with the help of a Baader collaborator.This help was extremely useful and necessary for me. The installation was successful. Calibration and raw data reduction work fine. The software interface is still in development. Final reduction using reference stars will come soon. I encourage amateur spectroscopists to try out this product.Anton Heidemann

MIBASNachdem ich mich mit MIDAS und ergänzend MIBAS vertraut gemacht habe im Einsatz des Baches-Echelle Spektrographen, möchte ich mich für den reibungslosen Einsatz mit besonderer Unterstützung von Herrn Roman Gümperlein und Herrn Bernd Koch bedanken und die freundliche Bereitschaft von Herrn Tobias Baader. Da ich schon Jahrzehnte in gutem Kontakt mit Baader Planetarium und den Spezial-Teams stehe, möchte ich mich auch für die freundliche und kompetente Beratung in den jeweiligen Fachgebieten bedanken. Viele Ihrer Mitarbeiter sind mir sehr vertraut und auch liebenswürdig. Herzlichen Dank! Da ich bereits mit dem Star-Analyzer, dem Dados Spetrographen gearbeitet habe und auch noch einsetze, möchte ich auch den komplexen Einsatz mit empfohlener Software betonen. Die Beratung in vielfältiger Art möchte ich nicht missen. Durch das MIBAS Programm wird MIDAS enorm erweitert und auch komplexe Eingaben reduziert und sinnvoll vereinfacht. Ein Wechsel von MIBAS auf MIDAS et vice versa ist ohne Probleme mit der virtual box in Ubuntu möglich. Eine Einarbeitungszeit ist im Rahmen der Spektroskopie selbstverständlich! Expensive but worth itI don't have the time, dark skies or observing site to warrant using more than a dslr for astro imaging and its substantial cost. The alternative was getting the chip on Canon 750d modified and by a reputable organisation, and it was the best decision in my imaging progress. No problems and the conversion done to very high standards. Despite heavily light polluted skies I can now pick up a Hα signal. The best results require a fair bit of processing, but use a CLS filter or Hα clip filter and it gets a lot easier. Images with 750d, Skywatcher Esprit 80ed f5/400, AVX mount, exposures typically 3-5 minutes iso 1600, greyscale with Hα filter from colour. The downside is the expense, including sending a camera insured to Germany. The conversion was done in about a week.Boris -
Canon DSLR Umbau auf Baader ACF... letzte Woche habe ich von Ihnen meine EOS 350D nach erfolgtem Umbau zurückerhalten. Auf den ersten Blick war keine Änderung zu erkennen - weder äußerlich, noch in der Tageslichtfotografie. Normale terrestrische Bilder sehen durch den von Ihnen bereits vorgenommenen manuellen Weißabgleich genauso aus wie zuvor. Die Flatfields, die ich gleich für verschiedene Wechselobjektive angefertigt habe, zeigen, dass der Umbau sehr sauber erfolgt ist. Ein einsamer winziger Fleck in der rechten unteren Bildecke verrät ein Staubkörnchen, das sich vielleicht sogar erst nach dem Umbau auf den Filter verirrt hat. Jedenfalls sehen die Flats sauberer aus als vor der Modifikation. Auch die Fokuslage habe ich mit mehreren Wechselobjektiven gleich getestet. Sie hat sich tatsächlich nicht verschoben. Wirklich beeindruckend waren die ersten Testaufnahmen, die nach überraschendem Aufklaren am Osterwochenende möglich waren. Die schwächsten Sterne sind (mit einem f/2.8 135mm Teleobjektiv, abgeblendet auf f/4) tatsächlich nur ein Pixel (!) groß. Der Umbau hat etwa vier Wochen gedauert (Sendung von Wien nach Deutschland, Umbauzeit, Retoursendung). Schön wäre gewesen, über das Einlangen der Kamera bei Ihnen mit einem kurzen e-Mail informiert zu werden, aber auch das war mit telefonischem Nachfragen kein Problem. Zusammenfassend lässt sich ohne Übertreibung behaupten, dass durch Ihren Umbau aus einer bedingt astrotauglichen DSLR eine echte Astrokamera wird. Baader O-III Filter (10nm) visual
At what % transmittence is the 10nm HBW measured?
Answer rated: 0At half bandwith. The 10 nm O III filters were done with older coating technology, hence peak transmission was around 85% - which might be the core of your question. The newer 9 nm O III filters are three cavity filters with steeper slopes, higher peak transmission and better off band blocking – it is another coating technology alltogether.
