  • Experiences with observatory domes from Baader Planetarium and other brands

For many years now Baader Planetarium has been asking me from time to time to put on paper my experiences with observatory domes which I had to deal with during my life as an active observer and user of observatories. I finally wanted to fulfill this wish and have summarized my experiences here ... I'd like to say a few words about my background: My amateur astronomical and technical experience with classic observatory domes began...

  • PlaneWave CDK 700 and 10Micron GM 4000 HPS with Baader APO 193 for Schaffhausen Observatory

One of our largest recent (non-dome) projects. The assembly was very exciting, because first a crane failed and had to be replaced by its "big brother". Now, however, the Schaffhausen Observatory has been equipped with the latest technology: A PlaneWave CDK 700 reflector telescope and a 10 Micron GM 4000 HPS mount with Baader Presto APO 193 / 1450 CaF2 and Solar Spectrum H-alpha filters. Another PlaneWave CDK 700 will follow next year. You can read...

  • 10Micron GM 4000 HPS mount for DWD (German Weather Service)

Already in 2012 we installed a 3.2m dome for the meteorological observatory of the DWD. Now the next one is to come. First the mount was delivered and installed, which now "hibernates" in a self-made protection due to the still missing dome. Later an atmospheric research device, which has to follow the sun, will be installed on the mount.
  • Telescope installations in November and Dezember

It does not always have to be a dome installation... For many years we have also had various other major projects, some of which were presented on our websites very little to not at all. We would like to present three current projects to you, in which we have installed large mounts, pillars and/or telescopes from 10Micron, PlaneWave and Baader Planetarium – integrated into existing (or still to be built) protective structures.   12.12.2018: PlaneWave CDK...

  • 3.5m and 4.5m AllSky Domes for Open University on Tenerife

Baader Planetarium mounts two autonomous (robotic) turn-key observatories Open University - Letter of recommendation The Canary Islands are among the best locations on this planet when it comes to observing space. Far away from any industry, in the middle of the sea, high above the haze of civilization, the sky is as clear and full of stars as most people never get to see in their lives. That's why research institutes from several countries have...
