Leveling weight set for Planewave OTA
Direct Drive Mounts require a perfect balance in both axes to a higher degree than classical worm-drive mounts. For this, in an azimuthal setup the balance must be found in horizontal position as well as in vertical position of the telescope – in an equatorial setup, additionally in one more axis.
Placing weights close to the secondary spider on the front ring of the telescope can have a negative effect on the stability and collimation of the optics, and can also cause reflections or vignetting in the optical path. Therefore, it has proven optimal to mount weights on the back side of the telescope.
For this purpose, the Leveling weight set for Planewave OTA has been developed. It can be mounted directly to the standard screw connection of all Planewave telescopes via the non-angled mounting block. The weights can be mounted in the horizontal position at the rear of the OTA both "top" and "bottom". This makes it possible to balance the telescope in the vertical position as well. The two weights can also be used separately. In this form, the set is very versatile.
