What is the corrected field diameter when used with 4x telecentric?
Does the corrected field diameter shrink if the reducer is mounted at say 30 mm from the etalon output? If yes, how much, approximately?

I have the 0.4x reducer, and both a TZ4 (for my 80mm refractor) and TZ3 (for my 8" Tri-Band SCT). I also have a Solar Spectrum H-alpha filter (25mm clear aperture, 55mm optical length). If I attach the 0.4x reducer directly to the filter, and ensure 74mm distance to sensor, how much distance should I have between filter and telecentric in either case?

I have a TZ3 telecentric, and was wondering if similarly to it, whether or not the 0.7 or 0.4 Research Grade telecompressor(s) would be corrected well enough for use at 394 nm (CaK line).

I'm using 2 different telecentrics depending on desired field of view (2x Telecentric & 4x Telecentric). Will the insertion of a Baader M68-tilter behind the 0.4 Telecompressor change the reduction value of the telecompressor if I maintain a registration distance of 74mm between the camera chip and telecompressor in both setups?

Baader Telecompressors 0.4 / 0.7x for Solar Spectrum

Suitable for all SolarSpectrum H-alpha Filters - with 2" male threads on both sides

Possible adaptations consisting of Baader T-Adapter, Zeiss T-2 changer system, T-2 Prism and Baader Eudiascopic eyepiece f = 30 mm

Solar Spectrum H-alpha filters require parallel light with a ray path of at least f/30. This is achieved by a focal length with our telecentric systems (and possibly also by dimming the lens with the iris). Because of the focal length extension in many telescopes the sun is not completely visually apparent when using eyepieces with f = 30 to 35 mm.

Note: both Baader Solar Spectrum Telecompressors are mounted straight onto the Solar Spectrum body rear end and reduce the f/30 ratio by a factor of 0.4x (#2459260) respectively 0.7x (#2459259). As a result, a much larger portion of the solar surface comes into view, depending on the size of the Etalon mounted inside the Solar Spectrum filter.

A telecompressor is used to adjust the focal length to possibly poor seeing conditions and / or enlarging the field for photographic- or webcam applications.

To attach the telecompressor use our 2″ Universal flange (# 295 8240); it gets attached with four screws directly onto the filter housing (see illustration), the telecompressor is mounted directly into the 2″ thread of the universal flange. The main thread of the compressor also is a 2″ male thread. This can be changed if necessary with parts from our T-2 accessories system either to a T-2 internal or external thread.

Application examples of the 0.7x Telecompressor:

The picture shows one possible combination, consisting of Baader T-Adapter (BTA # 240 8160 Part 21), Zeiss T-2 exchange system consisting of changer and change ring (# 245 6321 Part 6 and Part 7), one of our T-2 prisms and a Baader Eudiascopic eyepiece f = 30 mm.

The astro-images show the effectivness and the enlarging of the field of view with the 0.7x solar spectrum telecompressor on a 6 “refractor at f = 2250mm, dimmed down to 75mm, thus at f/30. The comparisons show the operation of the SolarSpectrum telecompressor. Primary focal length of the photographing lens is 2250 mm, reduced to 1700mm telephoto compressor The advantages: significantly larger field of view and reduce of the necessary exposure times!

Einsatz am 6 Zoll APO Triplett (1050mm Brennweite)
Ich habe den Telekompressor zusätzlich zum BAADER SunDancer II erworben, um eben den durch die 3fach Telezentrik und dem kleinen 178MM Sensor bedingten engen Bildausschnitt "aufzuweiten" und somit einfacher zu einem Sonnenmosaik zu kommen, wie anbei gezeigt.

Erfahrungsbericht zu TZ-3 und RG-4 für die Sonnenbeobachtung
Wie schon das Baader TZ-2 - eingesetzt zusammen mit dem TC 0.7fach – ist das neue TZ-3 zusammen mit dem RG TZ 0.4fach ein ausgesprochen variables System für die Sonnenbeobachtung im H-alpha Licht.

Es ist über die flexible Brennweitenreduzierung beliebig an Seeinbedingungen anpassbar. Bilder, aufgenommen mit dem TZ-3 zeigen eine enorme Detailfülle, die Bildauflösung liegt bei 110mm Öffnung unter 1 Bogensekunde und die Bilder sind über das komplette Gesichtsfeld „knackscharf“ bis zum Bildfeldrand.

Durch die variable Brennweitenreduzierung mit dem RG TC 0.4fach und gegebenenfalls einer zusätzlichen T2 Verlängerung habe ich aktuelle Seeingbedingungen und geforderte Gesichtsfeldgrößen optimal unter Kontrolle. Ein weiterer Vorteil des RG TC 0.4: die Belichtungszeiten der Einzelbilder bei der Aufnahme eines avifiles reduzieren sich dramatisch und auch bei Mosaiken gibt es Zeitersparnissen, allein durch den Umstand, dass weniger Bildsegmente erforderlich sind.

Alles in allem für mich eine optimale Lösung, um mein Sonnenteleskop mit einer Öffnung von 110mm betreiben zu können, von daher

5 Sterne für Mechanik und optische Performance des TZ-3/RG TC 0.4fach und noch einmal
5 Sterne für die Firma Baader Planetarium, die immer wieder durch eigene Entwicklungen die Beobachtungsmöglichkeiten der Amateursonnenbeobachtung erweitert und damit bereichert .
