Please, where in this focuser should my f/6.3 Celestron focal reducer (CFR) go? Currently, my imaging train would be:
C11 --- (¿CFR?) --- BDS-SC --- (¿CRF?) --- ASI174
Thanks,
Martin.

You need to keep the distance between corrector and camera. So, it's the best if you put it between focuser and camera.

Hi, I would like to know if the 2" BDS-SC Baader Diamond Steeltrack® Focuser fits to my NexStar SE SCT 6".Best Regards Fermín
Question by: FERMIN GOMEZ on Feb 3, 2019 12:35:00 AM | 1 Answer(s)
Yes, you can attach the Steeltrack to a 6" Schmidt-Cassegrain, but to do so, you have to remove the rubber cover from the telescope's focussing knob. Then you'll have enough space for the SteelTrack. Unfortunately, there is not enough space between the Steeltrack and the brass focussing drive of the 6" Schmidt-Cassegrain to reattach the rubber cover; but you don't need it once the Steeltrack focuser is attached.

Do you think that 2" BDS-SC Focuser can replace the Zero Image Shift Microfocuser on 10" LX-200-ACF (GPS + AutostarII / Dated 2009) from Meade ? Or can you propose another solution with fine-focus mechanism, even it is in manual mode ? Thank you very much for your answer.

In one of the questions above, you recommend placing the 0.63x reducer/corrector after the Steeltrack focuser. Which adapter would I need to thread the reducer/corrector directly to the Steeltrack focuser?
Question by: Darren on Mar 31, 2019 8:06:00 AM | 1 Answer(s)
You do refer to to the SC-reducer with SC-thread on the telescope side?
Unforunately, we do not have a mounting plate with SC-thread, but you have two options:
1) Baader 2" Safety Kerf nosepiece with 2" filter thread # 2408156 equips the corrector with a 2"-nosepiece, so that you can use it like a 2" eyepiece.
2) 2"a / M48i Zero-length reducing piece (zero optical length) # 2454834
plus
Diamond Steeltrack® M48 Adapter # 2957204
This option would be more sturdy and shorter, but the free aperture is a little bit smaller, so I wouldn't recommend it for very large sensor sizes.

Is there an adapter that will fit the male threads of Celestron 925 Edge HD on the rear cell and also fit the back of the @"BDS-SC female threads with the 2" adapter removed.
Second question: Is this advisable?
Thank You for any information that you may provide.
Question by: Mike on Nov 17, 2020 12:44:00 AM | 1 Answer(s)
The 2" BDS-SC Baader Diamond Steeltrack® Focuser includes adapters for both the 2"-SC-thread of the smaller Celestron SC/EdgeHD as well as for the larger 3.3" thread of the larger models up to the C14. So, you can easily install it.
It's length is between 82 and 112 mm, the optimum back focus of the EdgeHD925 is 146,05mm from the end of the 3.3" thread. For photography, you should try to bring the camera into a position as close as possible to that distance. Visual use is less critical, although 2" star diagonals usually require about 11cm of optical length (prism diagonals need a little bit less).
We know of several users who use the SteelTrack and are satisfied. We just wouldn't recommend it in combination with the Celestron reducer, as it is designed for the specified distances to both telescope and camera.

will this fit on a GSO RC8?
Thanks

Question by: Matt on Jan 10, 2021 7:09:00 AM | 1 Answer(s)
The SteelTrack SC focuser comes with 2" and 3.3" SC-threads; as far as we can see (please check your teelscope's manual) the RC has got an M90x1-thread.
For the RT-version (for refractors), we do have RT-Adapter M90x1 Diamond Steeltrack® (Skywatcher) # 2957283, but it does not fit on the SC-focuser.
The SC-focuser has got a length of 93mm plus 30mm of travel;
the RT-focuser has got a minimum length of 78mm plus 80mm of travel.
So, you can probably use the RT-version # 2957210 with the M90-adapter instead of the SC-version.

I have a BDS-SC/HD which I am using on a Meade LX-85 6" ACF with a Pentax KP camera attached via a T2 adapter. It works very well, thank you.
My question is, will your UHC-S / L-Booster-Filter 2" fit internally in the BDS-SC/HD? If not, do you have another method to use the UHC-S filter with the setup mentioned above?
Question by: Mike Herdering on Sep 2, 2020 12:44:00 AM | 1 Answer(s)
To avoid obstructions in the lightpath by a 2" filter, which is smaller than the inner diameter of the focuser tube, there is no option to mount such a filter inside of the focuser.
But you have two options:
- The Baader 2" nosepiece to T-2 / M48 (T-2 part #16) # 2408150 has got a thread for 2" filters
- The UFC filter drawer
https://www.baader-planetarium.com/en/filters/universal-filter-changer.html is also compatible with the Diamond SteelTrack focuser. You can mount e.g. Diamond Steeltrack® M68 Adapter # 2957206 or Diamond Steeltrack® M48 Adapter # 2957204 at the SteelTrack and then configure a UFC filter drawer with M68 (for maximum aperture) or M48 connection on the telescope side and a T-2-thread on the camera side - or a wider connection for M48 or larger and one of our Wide T-rings to reduce vignetting of full-frame cameras as much as possible. A T-thread is smaller than a fullframe sensor, so that a Wide T-Ring is helpful with larger sensors.

Does the S58 dovetail mean that the steeltrack effectively has a rotator built in? I mean, if I use an S58 dovetail to M48 adapter for example to thread into my imaging train, I could then clamp it down onto the steeltrack in any chosen orientation of the camera?
Question by: Paul B. on Mar 11, 2019 9:26:00 PM | 1 Answer(s)
Yes, this is correct. The S58 dovetail features 6 x M2,5 headless setscrews. They can be loosened with the included 1.3mm Allen wrench to detach the integrated 2" standard clamp and to mount a S58 adapter / clamp in any position you want.

Do you know if we can use the BDS-SC with the Celestron Edge HD focal reducer for Edge HD 8"?
Question by: Stefan Broquet on Mar 24, 2017 12:20:00 PM | 1 Answer(s)
Can I confirm that the focuser can be easily rotated to frame a desired field of view? The "specifications" section indicates that it is rotatable, but I see nothing in the instruction manual to indicate how this is achieved.
Question by: Darren on Mar 22, 2019 1:54:00 PM | 1 Answer(s)
It is possible to rotate the focuser, but its meant to set it one time after mounting onto the tube. It is not meant to do that numerous times.Though
it is much easier to rotate the camera with a 2" nose piece even up to full format camera with wide T-ring and S52 barrel #2958551
Answer by: Baader Web Team (Admin) on Mar 22, 2019 3:45:00 PM
What screws on the steeltrack sc focuser allow for the adjustment of rotation of the focuser after installation . Are these the screws marked as number 3 on the instruction manual. Thank you.
Question by: Daniel on Aug 3, 2019 2:31:00 AM | 1 Answer(s)
Yes, the black plastic screws are used to set the orientation of the focuser. You can also replace one of these six M5-screws with a knurled-head screw to rotate the focuser easier.

Do you have adapters for Takahashi Mewlon or CN212?
Thanks in advance.
Eric
Question by: Eric on Sep 8, 2017 7:44:00 AM | 1 Answer(s)
We do have a Mewlon-Adapter (M71/M72, item #2558231) and from that one an adapter M72 to M68 (#2558230). Into this, you could screw the male M68-thread of the RT Steeltrack. If this setup is too long, we do have the Ultrashort Clamp #2458196 - which of course is no focuser.
Unfortunately, we do not know which thread is used on the CN212.

I would like to know 1) if and how I can fit this focuser to my Skywatcher MAK127 (bought ~2 years ago) ; do I need some kind of adapter ? will the original focusing knob at the visual back of the MAK still be accessible ?
2) same question for Skywatcher MAK180
Thanks a lot !
Frank
Question by: Frank on Sep 3, 2017 3:25:00 PM | 1 Answer(s)
We do not have the technical data of all telescopes, so you should have to check the manual of your telescope or contact the manufacturer to be sure. However, the BDS-SC comes with adapters to 2" UNC (SC-thread) and 3,3".
The Sky-Watcher 180 *should* be equipped with a standard SC-thread (2), so you should be able to attach the BDS-SC without any problems - if the description I have found onlie (still) applies to your specific model; technical data can change over the years.
The Mak127 seems to have only a T-2-thread (and a clear aperture of 1,25"), so a 2"-focuser may be a bit over-sized. But you should be able to attach the focuser with the Baader Expansion Ring 2"a/T-2i with 1mm optical path length (T-2 part #28) #2958242. Please check the manual und Downloads for the dimensions the the steeltrack, to see if you get problems with the focussing knob of your telescope.
You can still use the main mirror focuser of your telescope when the SteelTrack is installed.
