How to get the CDK 12.5 on the GM 2000 without any problems?

Our customer Christian Diez has developed a method that is as inexpensive as it is simple and safe. He can mount his CDK 12.5 on his own on a GM 2000 HPS mount. Instead of a pulley block on the balcony or similar effort he has simply built himself a table at the right height on which he can place the tube and insert it without any effort into the dovetail clamp.

Ingenious!

Mounting with the CDK12.5 from PlaneWave is only so easy for one reason:

The main mirror is installed with the highest precision and sits rock sturdy in its position. It has been fitted and adjusted with a special laser adjustment device. If the mirror were mounted in a cell with a point bearing, this exact adjustment of the main mirror would be lost.

Could you please clarify if the gm2000 losmandy rail allows to just drop in the cdk 12.5 ? It looks to me from photos that the tube rather slides into the mount and is then tightened.

I have ordered exactly this pair of ota and mount so am planning a similar solution but not sure exactly how this can work.

Thanks for any clarification you can provide!

Our dovetail clamps open wide enough so that you can tilt the dovetail in the clamp. Please note that only with this solution, with a table to hold the CDK 12,5, it is easily possible to install the telescope on the mount. Manually without the table it is too difficult for one person, it usually needs two persons. Not only because of the weight of the OTA, but the big black tube blocks the view so that you can only insert the dovetail into the clamp with difficulty and are constantly in danger of bumping into the mount and damaging something. Or even knocking the mount over. For any further advice the dealer were you buy the instruments will certainly be able to help you.
