What is the weight please for the Counterweight calculation.
And if you shorten the tube to attach another focuser, you might loose light because the beam of light is vignetted. This is not a modification which we would try.
This is not the same use case as with the erecting prism of the Vario-finder - this prism does not contain the barlow lens assy.

There are also four headless set screws around the back end, which apply force to the brass ring. They are used to minimize play (flop) in the sliding function. If necessary, set them so that the sideways movement is minimized - but so that the tube can still be pulled back and forth with an almost barely acceptable amount of friction.
If you don't reach focus, you can also move the front lens back and forth by 12 mm when opening the knurled locking ring that holds the lens in place. So even if all the back end is locked tight, still camera-focus can be corrected by rotating the objective lens-cell forward or backward after having loosened the locking ring. For loosening, the locking ring must be rotated clockwise when you look down onto the objective.
This may seem a little bit crude, but we wanted a stiff and sturdy solution - so that even a heavy guiding camera cannot cause flexure in the system. Other focusers for such small optics are either made of plastic or wobble anyway. They are good enough for visual use, but nor for guiding.
For astronomical use, we'd recommend Baader Zenith Prism Diagonal T-2/90° with 32mm Prism# 2456005K as this is the shortest prism which we can offer. It has got a free aperture of 32mm (1,25") free aperture and is fine for all 1.25" eyepieces - a 29mm-eyepiece would already deliver en exit pupil of 7mm, so no need for longer focal lengths.
We wouldn't try it with a mirror diagonal as those need more optical path.
But the Ethos will probably not work because of the design of their 1,25" nose piece. Most T-2-eyepiece clamps are too wide for them; the focusing eyepiece clamp which comes with the star diagonal 2456005K has got a diamater of 44mm and might work - if you remove all but one clamping screw, including the clamping screw for its focusing mechanism.
So, we'd recommend #2456005K, but only with an eyepiece with a more accessible 1.25" barrel, like the Classic Ortho/Plössl, or the Hyperion and Morpheus eyepieces.
These focusers also fit onto all our T-2-prisms and mirrors, including the one supplied with the VarioFinder.
So, you can easily replace e.g. the Polaris Crosshair-eyepiece with the Baader Focusing Eyepiece Holder 1¼" / T-2 # 2458125 and use your existing 1¼" eyepieces.
You can also combine the Polaris with Baader Nose piece 1¼" / T-2 # 2458105 and use it with every other telescope.
