Is the erecting prism, part no 2456130, compatible with the Vario Finder (Baader T-2 / 90° Baader Roof-Prism with BBHS ® coating (T-2 part #02), and can I use the supplied eyepiece with this combination?

Yes, the T-2 90° BBHS prism is perfectly compatible with the Vario-Finder. The supplied eyepiece of the Vario Finder can be screwed directly into the housing of the erecting star diagonal.

It is M5 thread - we´re using screws length over all 13mm with 3mm for cylinder head.

I want to use this finderscope as a 61mm achromatic refractor piggybacked on my 8" SCT, when not "finding". Am I giving too much confidence to this little scope?

We think you planned use can very well be supported by this scope.
You will have to get used to the sliding focuser but it can be managed well with a little goodwill.

Is it possible to attach a linear focuser along with the MaxBright binoviewers to the Vario-Finder?

Not without highly modifying it - it has got a focal length of 250mm, the binoviewer requires about 110mm of optical path, and even with the 2.6x glasspath corrector, it still needs ca. 65mm - plus a star diagonal, which adds another 35mm or more. So, the star diagonal needs to be less than 15cm behind the lens. We do not have a 1.25" standard focuser which is sturdy enoughto carry high loads - and a binoviewer plus eyepieces is heavy and long. That's why we use the simple, but sturdy focusing by moving the whole tube (when used as a finder or with a camera, you don't need to refocus often, and focussing can be done surprisingly fine).
And if you shorten the tube to attach another focuser, you might loose light because the beam of light is vignetted. This is not a modification which we would try.

The T2 /1.25 focuser is shown as an optional accessory for the Vario. Can it be attached to the Vario with the supplied parts or any extra rings required ?. Can it be attached to both the 45 and 90 degree prisms?

Both the body of the VarioFinder and the included prism both do have male T-threads, so you can simply remove the existing eyepiece clamp or the Polaris eyepiece, which is attached to the prism via the T-thread, and replace them with any of our T-2-focusers like the Baader Focusing Eyepiece Holder 1¼" / T-2 # 2458125.
These focusers also fit onto all our T-2-prisms and mirrors, including the one supplied with the VarioFinder.
So, you can easily replace e.g. the Polaris Crosshair-eyepiece with the Baader Focusing Eyepiece Holder 1¼" / T-2 # 2458125 and use your existing 1¼" eyepieces.
You can also combine the Polaris with Baader Nose piece 1¼" / T-2 # 2458105 and use it with every other telescope.

What is the best way for focusing the VarioFinder?

There are three ways to do it. The easiest way is of course the thumb screw which presses onto a brass ring. Usually that's the only screw you'll need. If you loosen it, you can move the tube with prism and eyepiece or camera.
There are also four headless set screws around the back end, which apply force to the brass ring. They are used to minimize play (flop) in the sliding function. If necessary, set them so that the sideways movement is minimized - but so that the tube can still be pulled back and forth with an almost barely acceptable amount of friction.
If you don't reach focus, you can also move the front lens back and forth by 12 mm when opening the knurled locking ring that holds the lens in place. So even if all the back end is locked tight, still camera-focus can be corrected by rotating the objective lens-cell forward or backward after having loosened the locking ring. For loosening, the locking ring must be rotated clockwise when you look down onto the objective.
This may seem a little bit crude, but we wanted a stiff and sturdy solution - so that even a heavy guiding camera cannot cause flexure in the system. Other focusers for such small optics are either made of plastic or wobble anyway. They are good enough for visual use, but nor for guiding.

If I remove(unscrew) the knurled ring that holds the eyepiece what threads are present? Are they male T threads? I wish to attach a 0.5 kg guiding camera which has female T threads. While I can attach a 1.25" nosepiece to my camera, I believe that threading it on directly would reduce the potential for flexure. Thanks for your help.

The diameter of the white tube is 63,3mm the knurled ring ist at 70mm and the dew shield has 74mm.

The true field of view is 4.5 degrees. Field stop diameter of the erecting prism is 15mm

Yes, it will fit. But be careful when threading in the screws - you may need to add one or two washers per screw to avoid the screw-tips to scratch against the moving tube beneath
