  • AstroSolar® Safety Film 5.0 for solar observation and photography at high magnification, telescope quality, Optical Density (OD) = 5.0
  • Safe for visual solar observation (with additional optics) and imaging
  • This highest precision film consistently produces strehl ratios of 94 to 96 percent at interferometric tests – thus it performs optically like a Fluorite Triplet Lens by Carl Zeiss or Astro Physics
  • AstroSolar Safety Film is best suited for precision work with all astronomical telescopes and binoculars – just as well as for all photographic camera- and tele-lenses
  • For more than 25 years on the market, the only film-material made to not deteriorate the optical wavefront, it does allow to attain high magnification with any long-range optics without reducing sharpness or contrast of the solar surface.

Hello, I'm very confused with regards to what I should be buying in regards to your solar filters. I have 20x80 "Astro observing Binoculars" and I'd like to make covers to view the Sun. I have no other filters or optics for the Binos just the standard out of box binoculars. Would your Safety Film be the appropriate product to use? I've gotten confused reading about "standards" as the Safety Film is not according to certain websites ISO 12312-2 certified but your 'Silver/Gold' film is. Could you please clarify, thank you.

Now that the sun is active again, I would like to begin using my refracting telescope with my Baader Astro solar visual filter. I purchased the filter material in 2011 and built my own cell. I used it successfully all through the previous solar cycle with last use in 2017. I have always stored the filter assembly in a plastic case to avoid damage. My question is does Baader Astro Solar film deteriorate with age? Is it still safe to use? What test should I perform before using it visually?

In description of Solar Viewer AstroSolar® Silver/Gold (film for naked eye without telescope) you mention 100% UV-protection and 100% IR-protection. Does also AstroSolar® Safety Film OD 5.0 which is for use for high magnifications with telescope, protects 100% from UV and IR radiation ?

Sonnensichtbrillen
