Prism and Mirror Star Diagonals

Ich habe das Zenitprisma ursprünglich nur zusammen mit - dem Steckanschluss 2" auf T-2 / M48 (T-2 Bauteil #16), Art. Nr. 2408150 & - dem Baader 2" ClickLock T-2 (M42i x 0.75) Klemme, Art. Nr. 2956242 bestellt. Erst nach Lieferung stellte ich fest, dass in dieser Kombination zwingend die - T-2 Abstimmringe (Set mit 15 Stück), Art. Nr. 2458102 dazubestellt werden müssen, weil sonst der 2" Steckanschlus und die Basis der ClickLock Klemme nicht gleichzeitig vollständig festgeschraubt werden können, ohne sich gegenseitig in die Quere zu kommen. Im beigefügten Bild kann man sehen, dass die Teile sich immer noch sehr nahe kommen, aber sie können sich nicht mehr berühren. Allerdings ist zu beachten, dass ich am 2" Steckanschluss 2 Ringe und bei der ClickLock Klemme 3 Abstandsringe verwenden musste, damit der direkte Kontakt vermieden wird. Also insgesamt 5 Ringe. Die Produktbilder zeigen jedoch nur insgesamt 3 Ringe, die verwendet werden müssen. Insofern sind die Bilder etwas irreführend. Anmerken möchte ich auch, dass im Falle der ClickLock Klemme nur noch relativ wenig vom T2 Außengewinde des Zenitprismas übrig bleibt, wenn man drei Abstandsringe anbringt. Ich habe zwar keine Zweifel, dass es hält, dennoch wäre ich etwas beruhigter, wenn man das vielleicht noch besser lösen könnte.

Mein Interesse an dem Baader Zenitprisma wurde durch einen Hinweis auf cloudynights geweckt ( https://www.cloudynights.com/topic/896940-diagonal-choice-info-from-baader/ ). Ich hatte Glück mit meinem Budget-Etalon und zumindest visuell ist es ausgesprochen homogen. Dementsprechend genussvoll ist das Beobachten und dementsprechend hoch ist die Bereitschaft, das Gerät noch etwas zu tunen. Die Baader ClickLock-Klemme war bereits solch ein Schritt, hat sich absolut gelohnt und wertet mechanisch spürbar auf. Den mitgelieferten Zenitspiegel durch das Prisma zu ersetzen und dann optisch noch etwas mehr rauszuholen...? Wäre schön gewesen, aber dafür reicht dann wohl die Qualität des Teleskops oder meine Beobachtungserfahrung nicht. Vielleicht sind auch die Unterschiede in der Praxis doch eher vernachlässigbar, gehen im Seeing unter oder oder oder. Da habe ich zuwenig Fachkenntnisse, um das beurteilen zu können. Ein Fehlkauf war das Prisma dennoch nicht, denn ich kann es tagsüber am Refraktor gut brauchen. Viel wichtiger ist aber die Ringklemmung mit den 3 Klemmschrauben: Ich beobachte mit Brille und bin oft zu faul, ein Beobachtungstuch zu verwenden. Auch wenn der Kopf im Schatten ist, sind störende Reflexionen, die okularseitig in die Optik gelangen, ein leidiges Thema. Durch die 3 Klemmschrauben ist man aber so flexibel im Verkippen des Okulars, dass diese Reflexionen deutlich vermindert werden können. Insofern war das Prisma für mich dann doch noch ein Volltreffer, wenn auch anders als ursprünglich gedacht.

Das Zenitprisma bildet sehr gut ab und ist durch das beiderseitige T2-Gewinde sehr vielseitig einsetzbar. Die Verarbeitung ist Baader-typisch erstklassig. Das besondere ist auch der sehr kurze Lichtweg. Dies hat mir ermöglicht mit dem Evoguide 50ed mit fast allen Okularen in den Fokus zu kommen. Ganz klare Empfehlung.

Der FlipMirror tut was er soll - sogar ein ferngesteuerter Betrieb ist mit "etwas Gebastel" möglich. Passt, kaufe ich gerne wieder!

Um auch meinen älteren OTAs mit Standard 1 1/4" R&P OAZ eine Art Mikrofokussierung zu erlauben kommt seit kurzem dieses Zenitprisma mit der fokussierbaren Okularklemme zum Einsatz. Die optische und mechanische Qualität ist meiner Meinung nach sehr gut. Im direkten Vergleich zu einem 1/12 Lambda Zenitspiegel und meinem 2" Televue Everbrite sehe ich keinen Unterschied in der Abbildungsqualität. Auch die Kaskadierung von dem Zenitprisma und einem Zenitspiegel um ein astronomisch korrekt orientiertes Bild zu erreichen z.B. am Mond zeigt keine visuell wahrnehmbare Verschlechterung der Abbildungsqualität auch bei hohen Vergrößerungen (bis 250x getestet). In Summe, sehr empfehlenswert.

I wanted a smallest-possible-lightpath diagonal to convert my evoguide 50 into a super-luxury finder and widefield scope, and this diagonal, plus the Baader ultra-short T-2 eyepiece clamp, fit the bill perfectly. Not only by its dimensions, but the optical quality matches everything else about this combination.

I could not add pictures to the intended reply. So I created a new review with a 5 star rating due to the applied improvement. The reflections on the back of the folding mirror are a serious problem with larger Celestron SC telescopes. I tested the following solutions to cover the back of the mirror: 1. Black printed paper or black photo book paper. This doesn't work very well. Light rays that run almost parallel to the tube surface are still well reflected. First photo. 2. Good optical black paint on the paper back. This helps a lot, but the reflections are still there. Second photo. 3. Optical black painted sandpaper. This works well. Third photo. The cover plate is 30 mm wide and 31 mm long. Additional folded edges, 3mm 45 degrees at the front and 4mm 90 degrees at the rear, increase rigidity, help positioning and prevent reflections on the leading edge. With 2 strips of double-sided adhesive tape of 2-3mm wide, this cover plate can be fixed without damaging the original rear mirror. Prior to assembly I made the cap from No. 60 sandpaper, which was then painted black with slightly diluted Sennelier Mars Black No. 759 Matt (60ml per sachet, available cheaply from art supply stores). This is a very nice product having a lot of options! I'm using it with a Celestron EdgeHD 9.25 telescope. The light path to the camera consists of: - The Celestron telescope adapter 3.29” to 2" male (d=12,7mm) - The Baader T Adapter for SC 2" to M42 male (d=15,5mm) - The Baader flip mirror (d=59mm) - A camera T-2 360° rotator (d=14mm) - A T-Ring adapter for Canon EOS (d=10mm) - A Canon EOS 77D camera with APS-C sensor (d=44mm) The optical path is now 155mm while the target value is 146mm. Unfortunately I found some flip mirror issues: 1. On the mask at the back of the mirror there is some harmless light grey dirt. It should not be there. See picture. 2. The dimensions of the mirror are such that 36x24mm is reflected. That's quit small to cover the inner 38mm of the 42mm tube system. The original Celestron star mirror has no restrictions caused by the mirror size. Luckily the limited Baader mirror size is at the upper port for visual observations. That does not harm to much. 3. In the up position the mirror is quite low in the light path. I expect extra vignetting in the case of a full frame sensor. 4. Most anodized parts are highly reflective in the near IR. So for IR applications some painting needs to be done. 5. Stray light from the rear mirror. This needs to be solved. See pictures. What is the best way to solve the stray light problem? - Another mirror with no reflecting part at the rear? - Adding some black rear cover? - Optical black paint? - Some kind of a mask in front at the input port? - Adding a screw to tilt the mirror from the zero position? Please your advice on the stray light issue.

der Flip mirror II ist eine echte Weiterentwicklung gegenüber dem alten Flip-mirror. wie immer sehr gute Verarbeitung und die Komponenten passen sehr gut zusammen. Der Spiegel wird in einem Gesamtsetup mit Baader Barlowlinse 2x click-look Fokusing holder T2-1 1/4" Okular 7.5 und einer QHY 485 verwandt

Habe den 2" CLICKLOCK Zenitspiegel und die 2" CLICKLOCK Okularklemme mit SC Anschluss zusammen bestellt. Verarbeitung und Wertigkeit sind bei beiden Teilen tadellos. CLICKLOCK Funktion möchte ich jetzt schon nicht mehr missen! Klemmung ist sehr zuverlässig und auch bei sehr schweren Okularen hält diese sehr gut.

Hochwertigste Verarbeitung, präzises Wirkung und reichhaltiges Adaptionszubehör anbei - was will man mehr - bei Konkurrenzprodukten habe ich das eine oder andere schmerzlich vermisst... Klare Kaufempfehlung wenn man photographisch einen Umlenkspiegel benötigt!

I use this with a few scopes from 80mm to 152mm APO refractors, 14 . 11" and 8" SCTs. I also have Astro Physics and a Hutech 2" diagonals. The BAADER does give a bit more on planets and DS probably due to wider range of frequencies it passes. Oters have noted this also. BUT....here is the scary part... I am also a solar observer. with Coronado Ha and Lunt Ha scopes, Day Star, Ha, and BAADER Cool Cermaic Hershel Wedge. I had planned on using my new BBHS BAADER diagonal with my favorite Ha setup but luckiily it wouldn't quite reach focus with some of my eyepieces due to a bit more back focus with the click lock (excellent device though normally). As a result I used my other two diagonals. About a year after buying the BBHS I happened to come across a warning email by BAADER that warned to NOT use the BBHS diagonals for Ha due to the additional radiation it apsses as a result of coatings. These could be dangerous to the user as well as equipment. While I love my BAADER equipment I think that warning should have been included in all product descriptions and user manuals. Here is the email I saw from BAADER: ========================= Question.. Can I use a UV / IR blocking filter and / or the BBHS mirror before an H-alpha or calcium approach? Do you recommend the 2 "BBHS or the 2" ClickLock star diagonal? -74Question by: Enrique V. on 10/14/2016 9:41:00 AM | 1 answer (s) For observing the sun in H-alpha in combination with a suitable filter combination, we recommend the normal, dielectric Clicklock mirror, because below 380nm and above 740nm it conveys significantly less radiation into the eyepiece than the BBHS star diagonal. The star diagonal thus significantly reduces the load on downstream filters. Please always use a suitable energy protection filter in front of the lens in order to keep the strain on the filter as low as possible. We strongly advise against visual observation of the sun through a calcium filter - the 397nm of the calcium line are in the UV; It is known that UV radiation can trigger photoxic reactions in the eye and lead to eye damage. In addition, even young people have only a low sensitivity to these wavelengths, which decreases even further with age. Therefore, the eye does not notice that the intensity is far too high. If you want to increase the intensity (for example with a different zenith mirror) in order to see a brighter picture, the risk of eye damage increases. According to the latest standards for eye safety and ophthalmological findings, the sun must not be visually observed at 397 nm. We urgently recommend observing the sun in calcium only photographically, then no zenith mirror is necessary. We cannot understand why some manufacturers offer calcium filters for visual solar observation. We also advise against placing a filter close to the focal point - an energy protection filter should be placed in front of the lens, even if high demands are placed on the optical quality of a large filter. A filter close to the focus saves money because it can be made much smaller, but we absolutely cannot recommend it - both because of our own conscience and because of EU regulations. The filter absorbs all of the energy that the lens collects - and could break at any time. Einsatz am 2" OAZ des 115mm f7 Photoline Triplet APO mit Baader Hyperion Mark IV Zoom Okular - gaaanz wunderbar, keinerlei Probleme da überragende Qualität - sehr zu empfehlen!! Grüße

Das 45° Amici-Prisma ermöglicht mir jetzt den bequemen Einblick bei terrestrischen (und astronomischen) Beobachtungen mit neuem Okular an älterer Optik.Die Qualität überzeugt mich sehr - randscharfes Bild, auch bei astronomischer Beobachtung !

Die Takahashi Mewlons (180 und 210) haben ja einen recht geringen Backfokus und nutzen ein ziemlich "einmaliges" Anschlußgewinde. Für die visuelle Beobachtung habe ich aus Baader- Adaptern (#2558231,#2408150), Click-Lock-Klemmen (2x #2956272, #2956214) und dem BBHS-T2-Zenitprisma (#2456095) einen kompakten und sehr stabilen "Visual back" zusammengestellt, der mir die volle Flexibilität zur Nutzung von 1,25" und 2" Okularen bietet und sicher auch für die Planetenfotografie taugt. Ideal wäre es, wenn Baader für diese Anwendung (gilt auch für generelle SCs) einen Helikalfokussierer herausbringt, der mindestens die 36mm Durchlass vom Zenitprisma hat und sich nicht mitdreht. Damit läßt sich das Spiegelshifting komplett umgehen.
