I need to use this focuser on a telescope with a very short backfocus. The scope has a 2"-24 (SC) male thread.
I see that this focuser has a min. height of 93mm but it is mentioned that this S58 adapter can be used to reduce the height to 80mm: https://www.baader-planetarium.com/en/baader-2%22-clicklock-eyepiece-clamps.html#574=936

My question is: can the focuser with the S58 adapter can fit on the 2"-24 (SC) male thread?

I have a Celestron 9.25" Edge HD SC, A Baader BDS-SC focuser, a Celestron offset guider, and a Zau camera. When I put this all together the distance to the camera sensor is 6 3/4" which is beyond your recommended optimum back focus distance of 5 3/4". I found that if I remove the large nut at the back of the rear cell of the scope and set the focuser over the threads my back focus distance is almost perfect. My problem is I need an adapter that will fit the threads, with the nut removed, at the rear cell and also thread into the focuser. Is there such an adapter? My only other choice is to remove the focuser from the assembly. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm considering buying a BDS -SC to use with a Celestron Edge 11 HD. I see that it works with the scope at its native focal length. I also have the Celestron 0.7x reducer specifically for the edge 11. This gives exactly the same back focus (146.05mm) as at the native focal length. It seems to me that the BDS-SC will work with the 0.7x reducer but I read somewhere that you don't recommend this. Could you clarify if it will work with this specific Celestron 0.7x reducer, part # 94241? Thank you.

I have an ETX-125 (Mak) with a Wegat back. The output port is technically an SCT thread 2-24 (2’’ diameter, UNF 24 thread).
I also own a Diamond Steelrack SC which has a 2’’ 1.0 (metric) thread.
The threads are incompatible despite both being called SCT.
Do you sell an adapter from thread UNF24 to 1.0 ? otherwise what are my options ?

Baader SC Diamond Steeltrack on Celestron Mount
Application example of BDS-SC Diamond Steeltrack®

General Specifications for all Baader Diamond Steeltrack® (BDS) focusers:

Drive system

  • True diamonds form a micro-geared high precision drive system never accomplished before
  • In comparison to conventional crayford or rack & pinion drives, this micro-geared movement has zero backlash, zero cogging, and zero flexure
  • Diamond Steeltrack® 2" focusers lift a payload of 6kg (13 lbs) straight up, without slipping, without excessive bearing preload (bearing preload can be increased further if necessary)
  • Bearing system utilizes unbreakable Instrument Grade Roller-Bearings instead of simpler Ball Bearings - handles higher loads with greater rigidity and accuracy. No Teflon-pads anywhere
  • 1:10 Stainless Steel fine-focus mechanism, ready for attachment of the optional Diamond Steeldrive temperature-compensating motor drive system
  • Detachable drive block assembly is reversible for right hand or left hand fine-focus operation and for attaching the Diamond Steeldrive motor block
  • Shortest possible mechanical design achieves optimum balance between focuser height (backfocus) and rigidity requirements
  • Zero shift locking knob to precisely stop any movement without affecting optical axis adjustment

Baader Diamond Steeltrack Adapters
Multiple Adapters available for shortest possible connection to most cameras / eyepieces
Multiple Telescope-Adapters
Mounting of BDS-Adapters on the example of BDS-NT Diamond Steeltrack®

Clamping system

  • S58 Dovetail ring-clamp built into focusing tube for accepting optional T-2 / M48 / M68 and other S58 direct-thread adapters to enable direct thread connection of accessories and cameras without 2" clamp
  • 2" eyepiece clamp with hardened bronze clamp ring (length of clamp: 12.5mm / ½") included as standard
  • Optionally available 2" Baader Clicklock-clamp w. integrated S58 dovetail (added length: 16mm / 5/8")
  • Two auxiliary threads (M60x1 and M55x0,75) cut into the RT & NT focusing-tube for attachment of dedicated field flatteners or focal reducers/correctors

Focusing Drawtube:

  • Each bearing individually adjustable for precise alignment of mechanical vs. optical axis
  • Ultra-hard subzero coated bearing races – precision milled and much harder than anodizing or stainless steel
  • Oversized 55mm inner clear diameter, to prevent vignetting, with anti-reflection knife-edge baffles

Steeltrack SC
I bought the Baader 2” diamond steeltrack dual speed focused to augment focusing on my 10inch Meade LX200gps SCT. I couldn’t be happier. Easy to mount, easy to adjust, very tight and rigid assembly, no backlash, smooth operation, positive feel when making adjustments. I removed the 2inch adaptor plate and attached it with the 3.3inch thread as the Meade thread is 3.25inch it fits just about perfect tightens up great. My scope is fork mounted when pointed to the zenith i have 20mm clearance with the Meade 2inch Diagonal attached to the focuser. Highly recommended.

Baader Diamond Steeltrack BDS-SC
I bought the BDS-SC to use with my C9.25 HD and I tested it on several occasions. I have to say it's an absolute joy to focus with the BDS. It runs very smoothly and allows very fine adjustments. It is big difference to the built-in focuser. The BDS allowed me to re-focus much quicker e.g. when switching to a barlow lens. I find it very convenient that it can be turned without unscrewing anything.

The BDS is a very solid build and holds also long imaging trains firmly attached. Both 2" and 3.3" threads fit to the C9.25 HD with or without adapter that came with the telescope, respectively. There are minor imperfections on the inner threads assumingly from clamp attachment during electroplating.

All in all I am very happy with the BDS and I think it's well worth the price.
