Cosmic Canvas Series: NGC 520, NGC 521, M1 und vdB1

These bite-sized sessions, though still hours of material, take the viewer step-by-step through the production of a single data set. These data sets, taken with the 0.8m Schulman telescope and an SBIG STX 16803 CCD camera atop Mt Lemmon, are unparalleled in quality and included with the tutorial.

  • NGC 520: This tutorial totals 138 minutes of instruction as well as the raw data for the NGC 520 (16 hours). CCDStack, Photoshop CS5, and PixInsight are used to process the data. Product comes on 4G USB Flashdrive. Price below includes shipping.
  • M 1: This tutorial totals 200+ minutes of instruction as well as the raw data for the Crab Nebula. Indeed, this tutorial represents the best offering Adam has produced in this series. In addition to processing in the standard way, this video also demonstrates his method for creating H-alpha blended images. Much of the data is subarcsecond in resolution- few people get to work with this kind of high quality information on such a famous object. CCDStack, Photoshop CS5, and PixInsight are used to process the data. Product comes on 4G USB Flashdrive.
  • NGC 521: This tutorial totals 200+ minutes of instruction as well as the raw data for NGC 521. One of the special features of this video is the construction of a generalized script for the intial processing of data in CCDStack. In addtion Adam demonstrates the use of the double color method and the soft light enhancement which are useful for faint and low contrast objects.  CCDStack, Photoshop CC, and PixInsight are used to process the data. Product comes on 8G USB Flashdrive.
  • vdb 1: This tutorial totals 200+ minutes of instruction as well as the raw data for thevdB1. Indeed, this tutorial represents one of the most comprehensive produced in this series.  Much of the data is subarcsecond in resolution- few people get to work with this kind of high quality information. Indeed, this is *not* a well-known field. When you complete your own version... you will be one of a very few that have really examined this astronomical field in detail. CCDStack, Photoshop CS5, and PixInsight are used to process the data.

Each object, be it a nebula, star cluster or a galaxy, offers its own unique challenges and opportunities to see advanced image processing techniques and solutions. These recordings are a genuine, uncut and unflinching look at exactly the steps taken to achieve the results that have made Adam Block a renowned astrophotographer.
